J'adore Marie Antoinette

This month I had the pleasure of participating in a Marie Antoinette ATC swap at Free Vintage DigiStamps (see icon on the left-hand side).  The swap host, Pamela, had 2 "French-themed" ATC swaps to choose from...a Paris ATC swap and a Marie Antoinette ATC swap.  Being the huge Marie fan that I am, I couldn't resist!  This particular ATC swap was fun and challenging.  Fun because it's Marie Antoinette!  I mean, the lavish wings and beautiful clothing and jewelry...who could resist?  We had to create 6 different cards and in return we would receive 6 different cards from 6 different people.  How cool is that?!  I've sent my cards out and am eagerly waiting to receive my set.

Here is a photo of my my Marie Antoinette ATC cards.  I am planning to upload a photo of each card to my Flickr account by this weekend.

What do you think of my cards?  My favorites are "Queen Bee" and "Let them eat Cake."  Let me know.

Quirky ATC Theme Swap

The month of June's theme for ATC swapping on Willowing online art group was "Quirky" so pretty much anything went...birds with umbrellas, funky dolls with wings, even abstract art.  My swap partner was a lady named Sonia.  When I received her cards in the mail I was blown-away!  She hand painted two fun ladies with big loud colorful curly hair!  They are so adorable!

I took a mini-vacation to the beach last month and that trip inspired my ATC's.  I thought how fun would it be to see a glamorous octopus or even a mermaid in the ocean!  Of course, I saw neither but that didn't mean I couldn't bring them to life in a drawing.  Here are my ATC's I sent Sonia:

The first one was a drawing using a combination of Letraset water soluble markers, Primsacolor pencils (love them!), and Stickles Glitter glue...titled "Sassy Octopus."

Isn't she the cutest?!  I glittered her red lips and matching tube of lipstick.  After I took her picture and sent her in the mail I kept thinking she was missing something.  I should have added a mini pearl necklace or something!  Oh well, I'm still happy with the way she turned out.

My second ATC was a drawing using Prismacolor pencils (my ultimate fav!) along with Copic Spica Glitter Pens (very fun to work with), and Stickles glitter glue.  Hey, what can I say??  I like sparkly things!  This one is titled, "Bubbles."

I thought how quirky would it be to see a mermaid in the water with a bar of soap surrounded in bubbles?  For the bubbles I used Stickles glitter glue in a clear white glitter then after the glitter dried I went over it with the Copic Spica Glitter Pens.  The mermaids tail also shimmers with the different colors of Stickles glitter I added.

As in any ATC swap, etiquette states that you can not publicly post your ATC's online until your swap partner receives them.  Since my partner recently received them I can post them.

So leave me comments or send me an email and let me know what you think.

Until next time!

Dylusions Inks Have Arrived!

I have been patiently waiting for my Ranger order to arrive with the new Dylusions ink sprays.  It seemed like forever but they have FINALLY arrived!!!  The colors are amazing!!  The bright pink, turquoise, and greens mix beautifully.  The whole line of colors are amazingly bright and cheerful.  Perfect for any paper project.  I have just added the Dylusions ink sprays to my ETSY shop and will have some examples of backgrounds I made this weekend.  There are a total of 12 colors in the line, however; I only have 10 colors.  I am missing the Black Marble and Melted Chocolate which were backordered and will be here soon.  If you would like to put your name on a wait list for the two missing colors, please email me.

Dylusions Spray Ink Color: Lemon Zest
Along with my order of Dylusions spray inks, came the limited edition Tim Holtz Summer Seasonal Distress ink pads.  Helloooo summer!!  These colors are bright and like no other in his line of Distress inks.  The colors consist of a bright pink (Picked Raspberry), bright green (Mowed Lawn) and bright dreamy blue (Salty Ocean).  The 'Picked Raspberry' color is my favorite so far.  Although, I'm not a big fan of pink...this pink totally rocks!  You can also find the set of Summer inks in my ETSY shop.  Remember these inks are very limited and will only be available for a short time throughout the summer so get them now while they're still available!

Tim Holtz Limited Edition Summer 2012 Distress Ink
As you've probably read I was supposed to have a give-away last month.  Due to the terrible storms we've been having off and on and the lack of electricity/internet I've been experiencing I've decided to hold off on the give away and have it next week.

Well keep cool in this crazy summer heat!

Until next time...

Polymer Clay Bead Head Video Tutorial is here!!

Happy Saturday to everyone!  I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday.  I finally finished editing my first video tutorial.  Using iMovie was fun but tedious.  I did a tutorial on how to make whimsical Bead Heads using polymer clay, push molds, and various beads and wire.  You can use the Bead Heads in jewelry or on mixed media projects.  There funky and you can add any embellishments...the sky is the limit.  Here is a photograph of some Bead Heads I made.  Some of them were turned into brooches and will be used in an art piece.

Most of the supplies used in the tutorial can be purchased at my ETSY shop.  Here is the video I made. (video can also be found on YouTube)

I will be having my first 'give-away' this week so be sure to check back and leave comments!!

Until next time...

Black & White with No Color

As you can tell by the badge on the right-side of the page, I belong to Willowing's online community art group.  If you've never joined an online art community, I highly recommend joining one.  They're fun and you get to meet people from all over the world who enjoy creating artwork.

This month on Willowing there was an ATC swap with the theme being black and white.  While I was making these ATC's I so wanted to add a pinch of color to each card.  It was a challenge staying in black & white only....especially when I L-O-V-E color.   Here are the two ATC's I created for my swap partner (she received them earlier today in the mail).

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday!  I hope everyone had a fabulous Sunday.  I spent the majority of my Sunday at my work table making "Bead Heads" (coming soon!) and then finished the evening with a delicious family dinner.

This week I received the rest of my shipment of Mod Podge supplies for my ETSY shop.  Some of you have emailed me asking about the fabric Mod Podge and if I would be getting anymore in stock.  Guess what?!  Not only do I have more of the fabric Mod Podge in stock, but I have an assortment of different Mod Podge's!!!  Among the bunch are "shimmery" Mod Podge, a pretty "sparkle" Mod Podge (which works awesome on jewelry projects) and ready for this...a really cool one called "Glow-in-the-Dark" Mod Podge!!  Yes, I said glow-in-the-dark Mod Podge!!!  I have limited supply of the 'glow-in-the-dark' so get them while you can.

Speaking of Mod Podge, I am participating in the multi-round crafting competition taking place at One Artsy Mama blog (see the button on the side).  The competition is hosted by Amy, owner/writer of the blog One Artsy Mama, and consists of crafters creating an original work of art using certain materials (fabric, wood, stencil, Mod Podge, beads).  The competition runs from May 01st  through the end of June.  Each week the material used to create is different.  There are prizes offered for the winners each week which come from a list of sponsors.  This is where I come in...during the crafting week of Mod Podge, the prize for the winning Crafter is a bottle of there choice of Mod Podge from my ETSY store!  Doesn't that sound like fun!?  Be sure to check out the rest of the details at Amy's blog, One Artsy Mama.

Well that about does it for this evening.  Stay tuned for my 'Bead Heads' coming this week.

Until next time.

A creative Spring is on the way...

Eight months...wow...that's a long time since my last post but I'm back...again!  :)  I've changed things up a bit-- creatively speaking, of course.  For starters I have this amazing new banner that was made by a talented lady named Dale.  She owns Sea Dreams Studio on ETSY and has the coolest banners!  Being that I love vintage circus she customized this banner for me.  Don't you just love the giraffe with pearls and elephant wearing the tutu?!   Thank you Dale for adding the little touches to my banner!!

I have also been super busy adding new items to my ETSY shop and have tons new more items coming this month-- everything from muslin dolls, to paper clay, to a whole smorgasbord of new things!  I can't wait!!  Of course with all the new things coming in that means new ideas and artwork coming.  I'm planning on posting some videos on creative techniques and random studio shots.  With that being said I need to get a new charger and memory card for my camcorder.

I see a colorful Spring up ahead...stay tuned.

Until next time,

Jennifer.
